Big Dave & the Dutchmen is a new top blues band founded in 2023. Big Dave Reniers (known from Electric Kings, Dizzy Dave Band) is a master of the harmonica and a charismatic singer and frontman. He takes you into the nostalgic sounds of the blues from the 50s and 60s. What really sets this band apart is their ability to bring blues songs with feeling and respect for the origins, without simply copying them. The line-up also consists of well-known 'cracks' in the genre: Roel Spanjers (Luther Allison, Smokey Wilson), piano and vocals, Mischa den Haring (T-99, Chung Kings) on guitars and vocals, Darryl Ciggaar (Dry Riverbed Trio, Ian Siegal) on drums and vocals and Dusty Ciggaar (Ian Siegal, The Rhythm Chiefs), bass guitar and vocals. Each band member contributes to the unique sound of the band; soulful harmonica, ‘Down Home’ blues piano, expressive guitar work supported by a very smooth rhythm section. This band sounds like the raw, smoky clubs of early Chicago blues, where the whiskey flowed freely and the day only ended when the sun came up again.
