Less than two years after their debut, Whisky Legs is on a roll. Also known as ‘’Fifty Shades of the Blues’’, the band offers a modern take on traditional sounds, melding strength and emotional depth. The warm and powerful voice of their leader, heavy pounding rock and deep soulful grooves have made them Quebec’s Blues Discovery of the Year! (Winner at Lys Blues Awards 2015). Lead singer Maude Brochu also received a nomination for Female Artist of the Year, alongside Dawn Tyler Watson and Angel Forest. Based in the heart of Quebec City’s storied St-Roch quarter, WL inhabits a rich and vibrant world, finding inspiration in the work of many artists, including Amy Winehouse, Led Zeppelin, Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., Tedeschi Trucks Band, to name just a few.  Their independent EP, “Have A Shot”, released June 2014, sold almost 1500 copies and had them playing all over Quebec during the last year, including performances at the Festival d’Été de Québec and the Tremblant Blues Festival. Being named favorite band of the year in late 2014 by the promoter’s association of Eastern Quebec (ROSEQ) also gave them the chance, even as an unknown act, to play major venues in a tour of the Gaspé region this winter. Performing both as a duo and as a four-piece band, they have also rounded out their touring in the last few months with first-time appearances in Toronto and New Brunswick.
