From a small town in Germany to Los Angeles, from California to Chicago, from the American Midwest to wherever music takes him… Stefan Hillesheim’s musical journey is truly extraordinary, spanning more than two continents and a multitude of musical genres; at the heart of this journey lies an unwavering passion for music, a passion that cannot be stopped.
Born in Koblenz and raised on his father’s record collection, Hillesheim discovered his passion for blues, rock, and soul at a very young age. After studying classical guitar in Germany, he moved to Los Angeles where he studied at the Musicians Institute (GIT) and quickly became a highly sought-after studio guitarist. His work has led him to collaborate with artists such as Bobby Kimball (Toto), Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), Emerson Cardenas (Santana), and Brent Carter (Average White Band). In 2022, Hillesheim moved to Chicago, the city that shaped the blues like no other. There, he further developed his unique style: a blend of traditional Chicago blues, Delta slide technique, modern soul, and the emotional intensity of rock. Stefan formed a band around him, comprised of Chicago Blues Hall of Fame members and renowned musicians, who helped refine his sound. Since arriving in Chicago in 2022, they have released three albums. The band has found great success on the Chicago blues scene, performing regularly in the city's major venues and at the 2025 Chicago Blues Festival in Millennium Park. Hillesheim has established himself as an authentic and modern blues artist, respectful of tradition while forging his own path. Whether on stage or in the studio, Stefan Hillesheim embodies sincere music, virtuoso guitar playing, and blues that truly resonates.
