Big Joe Hunter is a blues guitarist and vocalist from the Picardy region of France. His music spans blues, rock, and roots genres.He draws inspiration from the legacy of early Mississippi bluesmen and Native American culture. Festival descriptions characterize his performances as a journey along Highway 61—the "Blues Highway"—incorporating elements of boogie-woogie and improvisation. He performs with the band The Blues-Beans (featuring drummer Michel Bontemps and bassist Michel Korzec) and also plays in a duo with guitarist Manu Bosser. His only known album is titled *The Rabbit Huntress*.
He has performed at various French blues festivals, including the Gartempe Blues Festival (2017), the Beautiful Swamp Blues Festival (Calais, 2020), and Terri'Thouars Blues (2019).

James Edward "Snooky" Pryor (September 15, 1919] or 1921 – October 18, 2006) was an American Chicago blues harmonica player.He claimed to have pioneered the now-common method of playing amplified harmonica by cupping a small microphone in his hands along with the harmonica, although on his earliest records, in the late 1940s, he did not use this method. In 2023, he was inducted in the Blues Hall of Fame.

Alive in Italia is an album of far flung friends playing music together at a beautiful theatre in the Piemonte region of northern Italy. The album title reflects the inspired spirit of the recording, it is a celebration of the magic of people and place. The live band is made up of Paul Reddick, vocals and harmonica, Steve Marriner, guitar, and Tony D, guitar, who live in Canada and “The Gamblers”; Gab D, bass and Andrea Costanzo, drums, who both live in Italy. Paul has been accompanied by the Gamblers (also featuring, Guitar Ray Scona) on many European tours since 2010, and they have become close friends through the years. Steve Marriner and Tony D are members of the Canadian blues rock band “MonkeyJunk”, who Paul has collaborated with as writer of on both of their Juno Award winning albums. Both Paul and MonkeyJunk were on tour in Europe in 2018 and decided to extend their visits and put together the band featured on Alive In Italia, and a beautiful friendship was born. One year later they were back together again, and a live album was dreamt of, then recorded in concert at Museo Tornielli, Ameno, Novara, Italy; November 10th, 2019.

Clarence and Curtis Butler are two longtime beacons on the Detroit-area blues scene, and with two recorded albums for the London-based JSP Records, they may finally begin to garner a wider following outside of Detroit. The brothers' albums for JSP include Pursue Your Dreams (1996) and Not Gonna Worry About Tomorrow (1995).
Guitarist Clarence and harmonica player Curtis Butler grew up near W.C. Handy's birthplace of Florence, Alabama, about 30 miles from the Mississippi Delta. They took their earliest musical cues from their father, guitarist Willie "Butch" Butler, who was famous in the region but never recorded. The twins moved to Detroit in the 1960 and quickly found work in Motor City auto plants. The club scene at the time was booming, with the music of John Lee Hooker, Little Sonny, Bo Collins, Bobo Jenkins and dozens of others spilling out of the city's juke joints. The twins continued working and sitting in as much as they could, but by the late 1960s, the blues scene in Detroit had dried up. Civil unrest and the rise of the Motown sound didn't leave much room for a flourishing blues scene, but by the early 1980s, when the blues began a resurgence again nationally, the Butler Twins were still on the scene. More importantly, they were celebrated as survivors and veterans.

A brilliant album from this unconventional artist, whose "new folk" sound—tinged with the blues—evokes the likes of Ben Harper, Tom Waits, and Tony Joe White. Produced by Jean-Jacques Milteau, *Distance* showcases an exceptional voice alongside a superb instrumental lineup, featuring the tuba and mandolin of Mike Lattrell and the prodigious saxophone work of jazz musician Céline Bonacina. Mathis Haug’s album *Distance* stands out as an extraordinary musical journey that dissolves the boundaries between blues, folk, and rock.
With *Distance*, Haug charts an imaginary map that traces a path from the roots of the blues through the protest folk of the 60s and stripped-back rock 'n' roll, making occasional detours into jazz and gospel. A guitarist of brilliant subtlety, he doesn't need to flaunt his virtuosity through his rock riffs; that mastery is already perfectly evident in his delicate phrasing. Yet it is above all his voice—possessing irresistible grace and an unexpected range—that gives the entire work its unique signature. Effortlessly so.
For Mathis does not over-interpret; he embodies a life—whether dreamed or lived—that serves as a melting pot for influences gathered everywhere from his native Germany to the South of France and the blues trail. Multicultural by destiny and something of a wanderer by nature, he adopts the persona of a storyteller, in the vein of Leonard Cohen or Tom Waits. Each track on *Distance* reads like a postcard capturing a state of mind—a tale of a journey, real or imagined, set against the backdrop of an idealized America.
The radiant "Carnival Train"—a song one wishes would never end—follows "We’ll Get There by Dawn," which features a superb harmonica line by Jean-Jacques Milteau. There is nothing backward-looking here, however, even though a certain nostalgia occasionally brushes against gravity, as in "Paper Cup." The tender humor of "Poodle Dog" or the festive spirit of "Cannibal Dancer," the highly unexpected cover of Prince’s "Sign o’ the Times," and a gospel track "in the lineage of Sister Rosetta Tharpe—the nun who played a Gibson SG"—continue a musical journey that feels like a blend of the Coen brothers, Wim Wenders, and David Lynch. The scent of dry sand, the deserts of the American West, the humid warmth of Louisiana—it’s all there.
Following the success of his previous album, *Playing My Dues*, Mathis surprises listeners with the diversity of approaches and repertoire found on *Distance*. "I wanted something more natural, instinctive, and unstudied. I wrote using a variety of sounds and styles that I love." The result is a remarkably cohesive whole. Jean-Jacques Milteau certainly recognized this quality; having not produced an album for another artist since Bill Deraime in 1981, he decided to collaborate with Mathis. "When we defined a guiding concept for this project, the word 'distance' came up spontaneously because we are both reserved people, and we each had to meet the other halfway. 'Distance' evokes both the separation that keeps people apart and the journey that brings them together," the renowned harmonica player asserts.
Reflecting on what led Jean-Jacques Milteau to this collaboration, Mathis suggests that "Jean-Jacques might have seen a bit of himself in me," while astutely noting, "A producer is there to reassure the artist... but also to unsettle them a little." He concludes with a mischievous, ultramarine twinkle in his eye: "Next time, maybe I’ll make a crooner album."

A fixture of smoky bars who played over 200 shows a year, Bob Walsh took quite some time to gain recognition and secure a full-fledged recording contract. This success allowed him to collaborate on various creative projects with other artists and step back slightly from the grueling pace of touring, returning to a more settled routine. Bob Petrocelli is a NYC-born multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter working in the Blues/Roots/ Americana vein-now located in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. A professional musician since the age of 15, Bob McCarthy is a songwriter, composer, guitarist, mandolinist, and vocalist who began his musical career in New York and Boston-Cambridge area coffeehouses and college concerts in the late 1960s. Bob has an easy presence which, combined with tasteful guitar work and a rich voice, makes him a captivating and extraordinary performer, drawing on many styles, including elements of folk, bluegrass, Celtic, Brazilian, gospel, jazz and rhythm and blues.In the middle to late 1960‘s, during his earlier days in New York, Bob performed at Gerde’s Folk City, the Cafe Wha? and many other Greenwich Village coffeehouses. While performing at Folk City with Tom Chapin and Mount Airy in the early 1970’s, he received the following review in the international entertainment newspaper Variety which said of his performance, “His work on six-string acoustic guitar stands out in jazz instrumentals and seems unhampered by delivering solo stylings usually associated with combos.” Quoting from the Boston area college newspaper, Pennon, “Bob McCarthy is one heck of a lead guitarist who’s musical interpretation is pure genius, comparable to Dave Mason and Jimmy Page.”
 In 1972 he compiled a number of original compositions and his production/publishing company, Wandra Music, released his first album, Advice & Company. This LP was produced by Bob, Andy Pratt and Ray Paret and recorded at Aengus Studios, the famed Boston area recording studio in Fayville, Massachusetts, and engineered by owner Bill Riseman and Jesse Henderson. The reissue of the the original vinyl record released on CD this year, features McCarthy’s vocals and acoustic and electric guitar, and includes Andy Pratt on piano and vocals, Abraham Laboriel and David Saltman on bass, Rick Shlosser on drums, Bill Elliott on piano, and Gene Rosov on cello and Robin Batteau on violin. He is a life-long member of ASCAP (American Association of Composers, Authors, and Publishers).
    McCarthy also wrote and performed in many commercials, and appeared on radio and television shows in New York and Boston. His work appears on recordings of Bill Staines and Brian Cullman, as well as Columbia Records artists Andy Pratt and John Compton, founder of Appaloosa.    
    In addition to his solo career, he has shared the stage with Jorma Kaukonen of the Jefferson Airplane, Bonnie Raitt, The Everly Brothers, Neil Young, Taj Mahal, Dion Dimucci of Dion and the Belmonts, Jay Leno, Steve Goodman, Leo Kottke, Pentangle, Tim Hardin, Alex Taylor, Livingston Taylor, Mountain, The Youngbloods, Jim Kweskin, Mimi Farina and many others. While playing with John Compton and Robin Batteau (formerly known as Appaloosa) at a concert in Washington, DC, he shared the stage with The Beach Boys, bassist Charlie Mingus, Jonathan Edwards and Linda Ronstadt. Most recently, July of 2012, he shared the stage with blues legend John Mayall. As a free-lance guitarist and mandolinist, he established himself by performing on stage with Irish legend, Tommy Makem, Nanci Griffith, Larry Coryell, and Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary, Buddy Miles, and Grammy award winner, Eugene Friesen of the Paul Winter Consort.    
    Bob currently has four CDs available. His latest, titled Wounded, Mercy and Sudden Light, contains folk, jazz and world music with Bob McCarthy on mandolin and guitar, Mick Fritzsching on cello, Randy Roos, guitar, Jerry Leake, percussion, David Saltman on bass, and Jeanne Ricks on keys, come together for this outstanding instrumental album. Also featured in Bob's catalogue of music is Star of the Sea, Satisfied Mind, (featuring the legendary blues harp player, James Montgomery), and Where I Live, featuring jazz guitarist Randy Roos and percussionist Jerry Leake and other jazz luminaries. Bo Roberts has been playing piano, singing, and writing music for several years in the Delta region and backing many artists from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Louisiana. Blue Stew is a unique and original rockin' blues band from Ventura, CA. with three critically acclaimed CDs released in the USA. Formed in 1994, they have played shows with Little Feat, Duke Robillard, Eddy Clearwater, Roomful of Blues, Larry Carlton, The Blasters, Storyville, Doug Sahm & The Last Real Texas Blues Band.... Their music has had substantial radio play as well as glowing reviews in Blues Revue, Blues Access, L.A. Times, Blues Bytes.
The CD, "Stumbling Blocks & Stepping Stones", was released in September 2000. From that CD, "My Baby's Cookin'" and "Child of the Street" reached # 1 on MP3. "Nobody's There" can be heard in a new Warner Bros. T.V. series this fall (Oct. 2001) titled "Elimidate" on the W.B. network.
The bands latest, "Headed South" was released in August 2005
After six years together, the four guys in Blue Stew definitely have the blues thing figured out. They will be expanding their horizons with a party Thursday night at the Ban-Dar in Ventura to celebrate the release of their third CD, "Stumbling Blocks & Stepping Stones."

GProject Blues Band, based in southeastern Germany, presents its first long player with Blues Shadow, on which the quartet shows an amazing stylistic diversity. In doing so, it demonstrates a pleasing assurance in all areas, be it hard blues rock or gentle balladry. The 15 tracks on the CD are divided into eight original compositions and 7 covers by such diverse composers as Merle Travis, Elmore James or Joe Walsh. With their stylistic diversity, the band puts you in a mood and makes you want more, and the CD is decidedly varied, always remaining more than entertaining. This is the best mood music. Whether acoustic slide guitar or rock solos on a grand scale, both fit well side by side here. The band has really internalized the principle that the ensemble of a rock band is more their individual musicians.
credits. This quartet throws a lot of music at the listener, and they take common blues stylings to come down over an hour. Michael Staudenmyer plays the keys and handles the vocals. Leonidas Kyriakakos can be heard on guitar, and TomBo and James Ransom keep the beat on drums and bass, respectively.
