BOPPIN’ BLUES BAND turns 15…
and celebrates with a great new Anniversary album
Mike Goudreau – founder and leader of the great Boppin’ Blues Band from Quebec’s Eastern Townships – has released a new CD just in time for summer, bringing together the best of the band’s previously released songs as well as some brand new material in the “rockin', rompin', stompin’” style we’ve come to expect from this group over the past 15 years.
Entitled “Boppin’ 15” – what else? - the new CD contains 15 cuts with 8 previously released tracks and 7 new ones including 11 original songs and 4 covers. Over the years some of the band members have changed but this album, as with all the previous, still boasts some of the best rhythm and brass musicians in Quebec along with some very special guests including Peter Brown on piano, Didier Dumoutier on accordion, Harmonica Zeke on harmonica, Michael Goodsell on pedal steel guitar and a few more.
“When Richard Bergeron and I started the Boppin' Blues Band with a demo that we recorded LIVE on a cassette deck in my dad's basement 15 years ago I never would have thought we would be around this long having played hundreds of festivals and gigs (most notably the Montreal Jazz Festival five times) and produced four albums” says Mike. “We really just loved playing swing blues that included a hot horn section and trying to create new original tunes that could have been written and recorded in the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s. What a great ride it’s been!”
The festival season is under way and Mike & The Boppin’ Blues Band’s schedule is busy. The new album will be launched officially at the end of the summer but it will be released before that so be sure to catch them at a Festival near you for a preview.
