Pianist, singer and songwriter Debra Power is known for her powerhouse vocals and energetic piano playing. Based out of Calgary Alberta, the in-demand live performer and studio musician released her debut album, Even Redheads Get the Blues, in January 2016 to international acclaim and airplay. Debra received numerous nominations, among them was a nomination for Western Canadian Music Award for Blues Artist of the Year, and she took home the YYC Music Award (Calgary's music awards program) for Blues Recording of the Year. In 2017, her original song, "Streets of Heaven" was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition blues category, and in 2018 she was a finalist with her original song "Temptation".
She has been a featured performer at the Calgary and Edmonton International Blues Festivals and in 2017, was nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards, where she was asked to showcase at the Toronto Blues Summit. 2017, also saw her open for Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musslewhite at the Jack Singer concert hall for the Arts Commons program in Calgary AB. In 2016 and 2018, she was a semi-finalist in the solo/duo category at the esteemed International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. On May 31st 2019, Debra Power will be releasing her sophomore album, That's How I Roll. Featuring 12 all original songs that highlight Power's prowess as a blues piano player, songwriter, and vocalist. That's How I Roll is a standout album from one of the best and brightest on the Canadian blues music scene today.
