Take a team of songwriters that have written, performed and recorded together for decades. Then add some musicians with years of experience on the New York and International music scenes. Sprinkle in some blues, a touch of jazz and a heaping portion of rock. Now, turn up the heat with a little funk and mix it all up. There is a great chemistry that exists between these guys, aided and abetted by relationships that have lasted years... many years. You can hear it and feel it. This has been the recipe for Urban Blue. Songwriters Mark Mayo and Mark Polott have been joined by saxophonist extraordinaire Lars Haake and rock steady drummer David Donen to nail this ten song collection. Frank Cervantes, a close friend and schoolmate from college added additional rhythm guitars. The core group is joined on a few cuts by some talented guests. Former Haystacks Balboa bandmate, Lloyd Landesman joins the guys on keyboards on the rocker Upstairs Sleeping and brilliant vocalist Cati James adds some spice to Talkin' Bout Freedom. The boys recruited violinist Duncan Wickel for their journey down a country road, One Mile from Home. Mayo and Polott met back in the late 60's in Polydor Records' hard rock group Haystacks Balboa. They formed a strong bond while touring the country to promote their self titled album. Their partnership has lasted decades through many projects and live performances. The first Urban Blue CD, "It's Different Today," was released in 2004. It's been a long wait for number two, but the time felt right and the band was ready. Urban Blue presents... "A Thousand Stories Never Told."
