S.E.Willis (Steve Willis), originally from West Virginia, has been playing the piano and harmonica since the age of six, and organ and accordion since his teens.  He started playing in rock and roll bands along Arizona’s stretch of Route 66 in 1967.  Willis’ music is deeply rooted in traditional American forms: blues, boogie-woogie, country, rockabilly, gospel, zydeco. A veteran band leader, S.E.Willis has taken a supporting role in bands with such artists as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Albert King, Jimmy Rogers, Roy Gaines, and, since 2000, Elvin Bishop (his accordion features prominently on the 2014 release “Can’t Even Do Wrong Right”). S.E.Willis sang tenor with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and appeared on their 1995 release “We’ve Come a Mighty Long Way.” He worked another three years with founding Meters’ member and New Orleans drumming legend Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste, and plays piano on his solo release Zigaboo.com. Steve “S.E.” Willis is a member of the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame.
Willis has released seven CDs of original and classic material: Airn Beats Nairn, 1999; Luckiest Man Alive, 2002; Cold Hand In Mine, 2003, Taproot, 2007; Pass the Hat, 2013; Turtle Dove Bounce/Live at the Poor House, 2015; Too Much Love (S.E.Willis and the Willing), 2019. Fifty plus years in the business and counting, S.E.Willis knows a lot about American roots music and shows it with every note. Willis started his musical journey in 1968, playing full-time in Flagstaff and throughout Arizona. In 1978, he moved to San Francisco, where he was an integral part of the blues, funk and rockabilly scene. Steve opened for Jerry Lee Lewis, Gatemouth Brown, Jerry Garcia, Clifton Chenier and others.
S.E. Willis' first CD, "Airn Beats Nairn," establishes him as a solid and original creator of roots-based American music. It is a collection of twelve songs, all written by Willis, with styles varying from New Orleans funk ("Love Monkey") and Rhumbas ("Ma Cher," "High Octane Gas") to straight Blues ("Drinkin' Blues"), Rockabilly ("Past Tense," "Fool For Life"), and Zydeco ("Good Food, Good Fun"). There is also a fine soul ballad ("Baby Why"), a smokin' boogie ("Good To Go Boogie") and the album's title track, the accordion-drenched bayou grinder "Airn Beats Nairn.""Airn Beats Nairn" is a Southern expression meaning any beats none. This record does far more than that, featuring solid backing by both a crack Arizona band (Bob Blazi, drums; Johnny Rapp, guitar; and brother John Willis, bass) and a California line-up (Vince Littleton, drums; Takezo Takeda, guitar; Jerome Hammond, bass).

Over the course of his phenomenal career in music, Mike Finnigan was known primarily as a sideman, the acknowledged master of the Hammond B3 organ as heard on his work with Jimi Hendrix, Stephen Stills, CSNY, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker and many, many other household names  The fact is that apart from his instrumental virtuosity, he was a gifted vocalist, a magnificent blues singer in his own right. Now, more than four years after his passing comes the eponymous ‘Mike Finnigan’ album, his final musical will and testament that features appearances by Stephen Stills, Smokey Robinson, Joe Bonamassa and son, Kelly Finnigan, as well as a who’s who of the key players on the LA recording scene. “To get the opportunity to make music with a titan of musicianship such as Mike Finnigan, it makes me realize how incredibly lucky I have been and how much further I have to go. He was a kind and generous soul that made one last recording for all of us to enjoy.” – Joe Bonamassa.

They played at major festivals in Germany (Leverkusener Jazztage), France (Nuit de Blues), Hungary (Sziget), and England (Gloucester Blues Festival and the legendary ‘100’ club in London). Guitarist/vocalist Fred Reining (Lefthand Freddy) is a ‘blues institution’ in the Netherlands and far beyond, as evidenced by the many accolades in the (inter)national press. In 2023, Lefthand Freddy was inducted into the Dutch Blues Hall of Fame. The album SOUL STRINGS, released in 2014, was widely praised: “A masterpiece, a must for every guitarist in the Netherlands.” The latest album Urban Blues Adventures (2023) is the long-awaited successor and is likewise being exceptionally well received by the press and the public.

On their third album, "Big Dave" Steele and his four Ultrasonics gravitate to historic black music styles without coming across as copycats. Rather, the Ann Arbor-based band, led by Steele from its inception in 1990, brings freshness to its sound by streamlining elements of house-rockin' swing, jump-jive boogie, gospel, jazz, Memphis soul-R&B, and Chicago and Texas blues. Steele's blues guitar playing, always technically competent and often jazz-inflected, has the capacity to flame up with inspiration, as when he pursues his muse into Bo Diddley territory on roots-rumbler "Black Coffee" or chooses just the right notes for his feature spots on the stylish shuffle "Big Bad Blues Train." And the band is fortunate in having two other capable soloists: Dave Morris on harmonica and Ben Wilson on keyboards. --Frank-John Hadley

Here is another big slab of down home, electric Chicago blues from that little band from Itajai, Brazil, on the South Atlantic. The band sports two vocalists, harmonica man Joe Marhofer and guitarist Ricardo Maca. The band is anchored by bassist Arthur “Catuto” Garcia and drummer Leandro “Cavera” Barbeta. Argentine harp man Nico Smoljan guests on Big Bill Broonzy’s I Had a Dream. Delta Joe Sanders grew up on Glover Plantation in Desoto County, Mississippi. His father ran the 10,000 acre peration where the family lived and at an early age, Joe developed a kinship with the help, who also lived on the plantation. 'My first [musical] influence was the farm help playing the blues. When I was about ten I remember one day out walking in the cold. I came upon one of the houses on the plantation. They invited me in to get warm. The kitchen was smelling right. Everyone was sitting around the table.' His lyrics, often deceptively simple, range from humourous anectdotes of love-gone-wrong to insightful reflections of the struggle to survive in a fast pace world far removed from the earthiness of the Mississippi Delta. Joe describes his songwriting this way: 'A song starts working on me, sort of how pearls are made. They just start agitating. . . ' In 1980, Joe began playing professionallly in a country band in Mississippi. It was only a matter of time before he decided to follow his heart and get back to the blues. For most of the 80's he played solo gigs in Memphis, where he resided until his father's death while Joe wa in high school. Knowing the difficulty of finding musicians dedicated to traditional delta blues, Joe was content to play acoustic solo gigs until one night in 1991 when Robert Nighthawk II asked to sit in on harmonica. The chemistry between the bluesman was so strong that they have been playing together ever since. A high profile musician in the Memphis blues scene, Robert Nighthawk II has fronted The Wampus Cats since forming the band in 1978. Having recorded at Inside Sounds with The Wampus Cats, Robert invited Joe to the studio in 1993 to cut a few tracks. The result was Slow-Cooked Pig Meat, the debut recording of The Memphis Sheiks. Two more CD's are already near completion and scheduled for release in 1995. The Memphis Sheiks are on a mission: when Robert Nighthawk II is heard saying (as he often does) 'let's go forth and make a joyful noise,' he's not just whistling Dixie.

Tina Schlieske was born in Chicago and raised in the music hub of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her mother - herself the daughter of a Russian Opera diva, adored music and passed her passion along to her children. Tina was weaned on 70's FM radio and the music her Mother blasted from her stereo. Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, the Beatles, and Elvis were all early inspirations. But then an Aretha Franklin tape her sister Laura gave to her sealed Tina's musical fate.
She had her first guitar at 13, and her first electric guitar at 16 and taught herself out of the chord books she found in her sister's piano bench. As a teenager with an independent streak, Tina formed a band, Tina & the B-Sides, a rock/soul/blues concoction that went on to become one of the most popular bands in the Midwest.
Starting her own independent label Movement Records along with an aggressive touring schedule of back-to-back two hour plus shows and an onstage energy that ignited the crowds
earned Tina a reputation that was hard to ignore. Seymour Stein from Sire records went to see a Tina and the B-Sides show at the famed CBGB's in New York and she was signed the next day.
" A white soul singer from Minneapolis? Don't laugh. Like Janis Joplin 30 years before her, Tina Schlieske collides guitar-based rock with gutbucket R&B and puts on a frenetic live show." -
Terry Crawford, Shreveport Sun (Shreveport, LA.)
Tina stayed with the label for 4 years and recorded 2 albums with Sire, Salvation (produced by Paul Fox) and It's All Just the Same (produced by John Fields). They had songs in three major motion pictures, "The Traveler", "A Simple Plan" and "Very Bad Things" as well as major TV
commercials such as Motorola. Tina and band shared stages with acts like Lenny Kravitz, Susan Tedeschi, the Indigo Girls, The Wallflowers and Etta James. Moreover, Tina had collaborated with such diverse artists as Stewart Copeland, Me'Shell Ndegeocello and Minneapolis native Dan Wilson. During that time, she was also considered to play the role of Janis Jolpin in Paramount Picture's "Piece of My Heart" a film about the late singer's life. After 12 years of fronting her band the B-Sides, releasing 8 records, selling nearly 100,000 CD's (mostly from word of mouth) and touring for an epic decade-and-a-half in front of throngs of passionately loyal fans, Tina wanted a change. One of the changes was a decision to leave Sire and go back to the band's grassroots once again. To celebrate their new independence, Tina and the B-Sides played two nights at Minneapolis' First Ave to sell out crowds and recorded the event. The result was their 1999
double live CD, The Last Polka, which became the band's swansong.
Tina moved West after the band's breakup and for all of 2000 she toured the country solo with just her and her acoustic guitar, playing the small clubs that had been so supportive during the B-Sides' reign. Additionally, she formed a cover band to pay homage to her early inspirations, Lola and the Red Hots. Lola released two CD's including the unendingly popular Christmas album, "Have Yourself A Red Little Christmas" . She also began exploring new and different outlets for her talents. In 2001, Stevie Ray Vaughn's band Double Trouble approached Tina offering her the lead singer/rhythm guitarist
slot. Throughout that spring and summer Tina stunned hard-nosed blues-rock fans and critics alike with her gritty voice and passionate performances. " The highlight of the set was when DT blew the roof off of the Tabernacle with the cover of Led Zeppelin's "Rock & Roll" sung by Tina Schlieske. If Robert Plant had been present he surely
would have shrieked and danced" - Adam Geitgey, Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Atlanta, GA.) But Tina decided not to stay on permanently with DT, and returned home to write new material
for her solo debut, something she had been putting off doing for too long. With several records' worth of material, Tina prepared to enter yet another phase of her career, this time on her own. "Slow Burn" was released in 2005 with rave reviews. Tina's debut solo effort can be described as Alt-Country-Soul-Rock that was recorded with some of the best musicians around such as Don Heffington (Dylan, Emmy Lou Harris), Dave Kalish (Rickie Lee Jones), Benmont Tench (
Tom Petty), Shane Fontayne (Sting), Marc Ford (Wallflowers), Sheldon Gomberg (Ryan Adams, Beck) and the great James Burton (Elvis Presley) all contributing ~ cdbaby.com/

"Andhrea and the Black Cats" is a blues band created in 2013 in Santiago de Compostela by Ramón Figueira "Figui" (harmonicas), Andrea Verdú (voice) and Benjamín Vázquez (guitar). It was born as an acoustic blues band for small stages targeted into the reinterpretation of the very oldest classics in blues history. Their evolution led them to participate in the VI edition of the blues contest organized by the Blues Society of Barcelona in 2015. The quality of the interpretation, their tuning with the audience and the painstaking set list, which included classics such as "Wang Dang Doodle", "I Can't Be Satisfied" or "Down By The Riverside", made them winners of the contest. After that they managed to carry their sound on national level and access the recording of their first studio album, "New Roads", in 2016.

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, My Americana, by Amaury Faivre and it's cool and flavorful. Opening with Tumbleweed, a solid pop track with a folksy feel, Amaury Faivre handles vocals, harmonica, guitars and bass, joined by Julien Compagne on drums. Nice opener. Another track with a memorable melody is Doggone Soul with warm vocals, harmonica, mandolin and slide acoustic guitar by Faivre and drums and percussion by Compagne giving the track a dark reggae sound. Bluesy, It's Time For Me, is my favorite track on the release with soulful vocals by Faivre who compliments himself masterfully on harmonica, bass and guitar. Great track. Wrapping the release is bluesy folk track, Goodbye Joe featuring Faivre on acoustic guitar and harmonica. This is a really clean track and a solid closer for an interesting release.

 8. I Wouldn't Treat A Dog (The Way You Treated Me) - 4:44
 9. You're Welcome, Stop On By - 3:36
10. It's All Over Now - 4:26

In a personal note that Mr. Wright enclosed with this CD, he comments: “[It] was a project I did with Chris Vachon, the leader and lead guitarist of Roomful of Blues. Chris also engineered and produced it. Chris has been nominated twice in the past for his production work by the Grammy [award board]. We’re both very proud of the results.” By all means, they should be. For some hard-line critics, the word “debut’ is synonymous with “shoddy work” and “poor effort,” but not Aftershock. It’s well-crafted enough to serve as an introduction to the blues for new listeners.
Lil’ Shaky and the Tremors are composed of Ed Wright on lead vocals, screams (LOL) and bass guitar; Chris Vachon on guitars and background vocals; Jeff Ceasrine on piano, organ and congas, and Larr Anderson on drums. Special guests include Brenda Bennett on lead and background vocals, and DD Bastos on background vocals. Also joining in are two separate ensembles: The Gospel Love Tones, featuring Walter Cooper, Steven Cooper, and Kenny Haywood; and The Naked Horns, featuring Jaime Rodrigues, Robert DeCurtis, Mark Legualt, Steve DeCurtis, and Josh Kane. Other individual performers include Mike Antunes on tenor sax; Mike Rand on harmonica; Chris Boyd on pedal steel; and Ed Vallee on slide guitar.
This album’s last track is also its best one.
Track 10: “It’s All Over Now” – Featuring a beer-warranting intro with howling harp and growling guitar, this is a song about what happens to a relationship in the wake of betrayal. “Well, my baby used to stay out all night long. She made me cry. She did me wrong. She hurt my eyes open; that’s no lie. The tables turned, and now it’s her turn to cry.” Bobby Womack, originally, and this current band couldn’t have said it any clearer. Savor Ed Vallee on magnificent slide guitar.
For blues veterans, Aftershock won’t cause much of a ripple, but it’ll make new fans’ souls shake and quake!

By Peter "Blewzzman" Lauro © Nov 2025:-
"Pat Pepin and I go way back, and as with so many other of my blues friends we met in Memphis during the Blues Music Awards. It was around 2000 or shortly thereafter. At the time I was the Florida beat writer for Big City Blues Magazine and after seeing a stack of the magazines on the counter at Tater Reds on Beale Street, Red and I got into a long conversation. That's when Pat, who was standing nearby, introduced herself and joined the conversation, and that's all it took. As it turned out, Pat's mom lived in Okeechobee, Fl, which was about an hour from where I lived in Port St. Lucie. Over the years, during her many winter trips from Maine to visit her mom, Pat - and once in a while Mamma Pepin as well - were guests at the House of Blewzz. Although we don't see each other as much as we'd like to anymore, occasionally running into her at a blues event somewhere is always a pleasure. With all that said, it is now my pleasure to tell you about her fourth release.
What More Can I Do features fourteen tracks of which twelve are Pat Pepin originals. Having all of her other releases, I can honestly tell you that this disc contains some of her very best writing. Joining Pat - on lead vocals, sax, kazoo and spoons - are Steve Jones on guitar and backing vocals; Richard Hollis on drums and backing vocals; Scott Elliot on bass and backing vocals; and Bob Colwell on piano and backing vocals. Collectively, the band is affectionately known as The Boneheads.
On "Mother Nature Blues" it's Pat's belief that the "Fires and earthquakes; the oceans on the rise; the earth being dry and barren; the lightening that fills the skies; the heat waves and hurricanes; and cold to the extreme"; are just Mother Nature's way of scolding us for the way we've abused her with "The trash we put trash on the highways; the smoke we created that blocks the sun; the way we poisoned the water; did all that drilling and blasting"; and a whole lot more. Yep, Mother Nature indeed has a case of the blues. Musically, with the Boneheads in a cool shuffle groove behind her, Pat's sincere and heartfelt vocals do a good job of creating an awareness of the problems. Now, if we can only solve them!
The title track, "What More Can I Do" is a somber ballad on which Pat wears her heart on her sleeve. As the title indicates, Pat can't help but wonder if she's to blame for a heartbreaking breakup. With the band in a melancholic rhythm groove behind her, showcasing great range and lots of emotion, Pat shines on the vocals; and her sullen sax leads seem to magnify her pain. Very well done track.
Lyrically, vocally, and musically, "Don't Tie Me Down" is a swinger that's loaded with sass, humor and band banter. The up-tempo dance floor filler has Richard and Scott in a hot rhythm groove on the drums and bass respectively with Pat belting the hell out of some swinging sax leads.
"Little Things" and "Call Me Up" are two songs right out of a late forties - early fifties jazz lounge singer's songbook. Little Things features the band in that so cool jazz lounge rhythm groove being led by deep bass lines from Richard; and Call Me Up features more of the same with some smooth, jazzy guitar runs from Steve. Additionally, they both feature Pat sounding sassy and sultry on the vocals, and sax leads; and very cool backing vocals - reminiscent to songs of the era - from The Boneheads. Great two song segue. Now Pat's got me wanting to hear her do a whole album of stuff like this".

Peter Nande built his reputation as a bandleader backing artists like RJ Mischo, Lazy Lester and Gary Primich on their tours of his native Scandinavia. However he was to make a big impression on one of the artists he backed – a certain gentleman by the name of James Harman. Harman was so impressed by Nande’s singing and harp playing, he invited him to his home in Southern California, to record and produce an album for him – resulting in the gem under consideration here. Nande is a wonderful vocalist and harp player – and on this set he demonstrates it – paying tribute to his mentor (Icepick) in the best way possible with a set of great blues. As Harman says “pour yourself some mellow wine – kick on back and enjoy this mess to the fullest .. coz baby, this stuff goes down smooth” – and I won’t and don’t disagree with Icepick. Nande bought his own guitarist, Ronni Busack-Boysen, to the sessions, and was joined by, amongst others, Jr Watson, Harman alumni Nathan James on guitar, Carl Sonny Leyland on organ/piano, Buddy Clark on upright bass, and, of course the man himself – Harman. The set kicks off with “Cat Be-Gone”, a swinging instrumental that allows Nande to demonstrate his command of tone, phrasing and creativity over a “slap” rhythm. “Mover & Shaker” mines a mighty shuffle groove mixing elements of Memphis and Chicago in true Harman fashion – Nande’s moody vocals and harp echoed by some tough, shimmering, 50’s styled electric guitar and deep rolling piano. A real gem!.The rhythm section rack up a deep Delta groove on ‘Comin’ Home” – Nande’s brooding vocals and harp melding the influences of Harman and Rice Miller, the mood echoed by Boysen’s guitar and Leyland’s piano. “She’s Mad Again” finds Nande on his own – just vocals and harp – creating a lowdown gutbucket moan that mixes elements of Sonny Boy, Wolf, Sonny Terry and Harmonica Slim. A real tour-de-force. “Kiss Me Now features Harman on vocals backed by Nande’s superb harp, on a number that recalls Sonny Boy’s Storyville period – “Lucky Charm” has a strong Gene Vincent feel, with Leyland in magnificent form mixing elements of Jerry Lee Lewis and Memphis Slim, whilst Watson lays down some stunning rockabilly guitar in his own quirky fashion.
Nande is a major talent and I could enthuse endlessly over each and every track – all I can say is roll on volume 2 – and whilst you are waiting for it – do “The Big Boy Boogie”. ~ Mick Rainsford (Blues Matters)/

Michael Robert "Mojo" Webb is a multi-instrumentalist blues musician, based in Brisbane, Australia. On 8 February 2007, Mojo Webb was awarded the Australian Blues Music Chain Award for 'New Talent of the Year'. Mojo Webb's music is traditional, guitar-based blues which is reminiscent of the Chicago and delta style artists such as Muddy Waters, B. B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy and Robert Johnson.
2006 saw the release of The Burden, his debut album, with all fourteen songs written by Mojo Webb. The debut album was particularly significant as Mojo Webb recorded all vocals and also played all the instruments including guitar, bass guitar, drums, harmonica, and saxophone. Mojo Webb also wrote, arranged, recorded, mixed, and produced the entire album.
In January 2012, Mojo Webb released the long-awaited follow-up album titled, The Cat. With thirteen all new original songs as recorded and performed by the band – Mojo Webb (Lead guitar/Vocals), JB Lewis (Bass guitar/Guitar on "Hot Dog") and Coojee Timms (Drums/Backing Vocals). The album was recorded in December 2011 as preparation for the bands assault on the 2012 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Mojo Webb is renowned for his dynamic guitar and keyboard solo leads and often swaps lead with J.B.Lewis through his repertoire.
Other music/band projects have in recent years included a new band known as The Evening Sons has Mojo Webb (Lead Guitar) with Greg Baker (Lead Vocal/Harmonica) and Coojee Timms (Drums).
In addition, recent reformations have surfaced of one of the original and pioneering local Brisbane-based blues bands, Buzz 'N The Blues Band featuring Robert 'Buzz' Oxford (Lead Vocals), Mojo Webb (Lead Guitar), Jason Chandler (Bass Guitar) together with other local/guest musicians including JB Lewis, Peter Robertson, Ric Halstead, Neil Wickham and Devid Bentley.
On 8 February 2007, Webb was awarded the Australian Blues Music 'Chain' Award for New Talent of the Year. In the same year he was nominated in four other categories including Album, Producer, Male Vocalist and Song of the Year. The annual Australian Blues Music / Chain awards recognise excellence in blues music in Australia in categories including artist, song, band, new talent and production.

Pete Schmidt & Shane Scott - Blues Approved

 2. How Long - 3:22
 3. Back On Top - 4:47
 4. I'll Be Back - 4:14
 5. Two Women - 3:59

 9. Blue Moon Blues - 5:06
10. Vampire Woman - 3:50
11. Get Lucky - 2:29
12. Jessie - 3:40
13. If It Ain't One Thing - 3:44
14. Gimme All Your Money - 3:15
15. Harpin' - 4:32

A groove-laden journey, 'Blues Approved' consists of 15 blues-drenched collaborations featuring front tier players who have jammed, played, and recorded with guitarist Pete and bassist Shane.
Pete and Shane collectively stepped up to the plate as designated hitters: Not content merely to add rhythmic flavor and exquisite guitar, they also harnessed and drove the entire venture, in terms of writing the music, producing the tracks, and managing the entire recording process at Shane's own Bass Line Studios.
A student of practically every major blues and jazz player out there, Pete's managed to distil a wide array of influences into a uniquely seamless and highly rhythmic heads-up style. As far as tone is concerned, other players would kill for what Schmidt has.
"Back Flip" kicks things off, and it's an instrumental tribute to T-Bone Walker in all but name. A couple of other instrumentals grace the recording, including. "P.T. Shuffle", a reverb-drenched B.B King-style swing number. "Harpin' is dreamily nostalgic, thanks to outstanding harp work from Dave Rotundo and Doctor Nick (Ouroumov), two mainstays on the robust Toronto blues circuit.
Chuck Jackson's (of Downchild Blues Band fame) grumpy yet relaxed vocals are quintessentially bluesy--and impossible to resist. Either "How Long" or "Blue Moon Blues" could fit into a Downchild best-of collection like bread on butter.
The shiniest pearl in the blues oyster is "Back On Top", featuring Ricky Day, a highly respected and polished veteran who can trace his career as far back as even Mel Brown. In the Robert Cray/Al Green mode, Day epitomizes style and taste, and he's also keenly attuned to the irony at the heart of a great blues song.
Mark "Bird" Stafford soars to the stratosphere via a cool swinging West Coast breeze on "I'll Get You Back", while abetted by some soaring boogie piano from Brown and the authoritatively crisp, assertive guitar work of Schmidt. Dave Rotundo kicks the boogie shaker "Get Lucky" into high gear.
The only track that never ignites is "Two Women", but harmonica maestro Jerome Godboo redeems himself on the poignant "Jessie". Chicago blues gets the royal treatment courtesy of Little Bobby (Chorney). A fine up-and-comer, Bobby holds court like a seasoned pro on "No Need To Be Alone", with Pete's axe glistening on the cutting edge, while calling up the best of Otis Rush, Magic Sam, and Buddy Guy. Bobby also gets to blow sweet harp on a greasy guitar-drenched romp, "If It Ain't One Thing".
Shane more than hold his own vocally, such as on "Gimme All Your Money on which he conveys a nice touch of menace on a lowdown dirty blues. He gets to sink his teeth into the devilishly clever "Vampire Woman, with lots of weird string bending from Schmidt adding to the tension. "Every Morning" features Shane on an outing with an urbane, almost jazzy polish to it, featuring in-the-pocket saxophone solos by way of Larry Bodner, plus mucho retro-cool keyboard stylings from Mel Brown.

 4. Turnin' & Burnin' - 4:05

Decades long commitment, respect and focus towards the art of blues music has seen Giles Robson build a dreamlike career. Hohner Harmonicas calls Giles Robson “One of the finest blues harmonica virtuosos in the world, an acclaimed master showman and singer”.
He’s the third only British blues artist after Eric Clapton and Peter Green to win a Memphis Blues Music Award and the only European or UK blues artist to appear on Chicago’s legendary Alligator Records, who describe him as a “Blues giant, absolute master of the form”.
He tours over fifteen countries a year and works with some of blues music’s most legendary figures. Ex Muddy Waters and Magic Slim guitarist and celebrated blues star John Primer says “When me and Giles play the blues we put hot sauce on it so you can feel it”. Emmy Award winning blues harmonica master Billy Branch calls Robson “a great Harmonica player in his own right”. Recorded whilst on tour in France, his wonderful  EP “Blues From The Road: VOL 1 – FRANCE” captures real blues magic as he teams up with guitar maestro Franck Goldwasser and legendary piano virtuoso Philippe LeJeune plus the added bonus of the country’s GO-TO rhythm section of Pascal Delmas on drums and Mig Toquereau on bass. Franck Goldwasser, a Paris born guitar prodigy created an acclaimed decades long career collaborating in the USA with some of the most notable names in blues from James Cotton, Jimmy McCracklin to Curtis Salgado and Charlie Musselwhite and was part of the award winning Mannish Boys plus and releases some highly admired albums of his own. Leading French pianist Philippe LeJeune was so admired by one of the greatest blues icons Memphis Slim, that Slim insisted on recording an album with him “Dialog In Boogie” in which LeJeune shared star billing. He has gone on to have a long and storied career headlining the leading festivals across the continent and releasing a steady stream of great albums.
From the perfectly executed full band performances Too Hot For The Devil and Turnin’ & Burnin’ which are chock-full of groove and feeling, to the intimate, emotional, detailed duo performances of These Deep Blues and Blues For Toulouse to the wall of sound deep groove guitar and harmonica instrumental Stompin’ At Lolo’s Place it’s clear for all to hear the wonderful and very special depth of feeling, musical communication and knowledge of the blues that is present between Giles Robson and these stellar French musicians. That musical magic is now captured for the world to hear on “Blues From The Road: VOL1 – FRANCE”
