Originally from Athens, TX, Bobby Blackmon got his start there & in Austin as a teenager before moving to Houston to attend TSU. In Houston he worked as a sideman for artists such as Albert Collins, Jimmy Reed & Johnny Copeland as well as with his own group The Blues Orbits who cut a lone 45 for the Kool label. After graduation in 1965 Blackmon moved to San Antonio & formed a new band The Soul Express, regularly performing at local spots such as the legendary Eastwood Country Club & Club Pusi-Kat. While in San Antonio he cut one 45 for the Dynamic label. Later on he moved to Los Angeles & then retired to Florida where he now performs & records as a well regarded blues artist under the name Beautiful Bobby Blackmon.

Bobby's current working/traveling band consist of three of the best musicians in Orlando; JImmy Seay (Bass), Jack Bumgarner (Keys), and David Bynes III (Drums) Beautiful Bobby is an excellent veteran entertainer who plays for his audience. He specializes in contemporary southern soul/blues & classic r&b music. His band is the premier choice in Central Florida for private parties, festivals and nightclubs. Band members include: Bobby (Guitar & Vocals), Jack Bumgarner (Keys), Jimmy Seay (Bass) and David Bynes III (Drums). In June, 2006, he gained many new fans when he opened for Buddy Guy at the House of Blues-Orlando.
In May 2010 Bobby opened for the legendary BB King in Orlando. 2011, he shared the stage with Kim Wilson & the Fabulous Thunderbirds on a concert in Orlando, Fl. March 2013, he was the semi headliner for the Orlando Blues & BBQ Event with the Robert Randolph Family Band that drew over a 1000 people. Beautiful Bobby is originally from Athens, TX and is just one of the long line of blues guitarists from Texas who gives you some soulful guitar licks. Beautiful Bobby's band has been a mainstay for the last 3 1/2 years at the BB King's Club in Orlando working two nights a week. You'll be sure to enjoy one of the best live shows in the business when you attend Beautiful Bobby Blackmon's high energy shows. Check out his 3rd CD because it has some blues for everyone. He is also the songwriter on 10 of the 12 songs on this CD. He gives a modern sound to keeping the blues alive.
