San Francisco Bay Area sideman extraordinaire (Elvin Bishop Band, Gator Beat, Blue Collar Blues Band, etc.) steps out front with a set of Americana roots rock, New Orleans funk, and blues. Dr. Joel Rudinow holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia, and has taught the subject at Dartmouth College, Carleton University, The University of Western Ontario, Sonoma State University, and now at Santa Rosa Junior College, where he is Chair of Department. Throughout his career he continues to moonlight on keyboards in American roots music bands - touring internationally with the Elvin Bishop Band, regionally with the cajun/Zydeco band Gator Beat, and gigging locally (in northern California) with the Michael Barclay Blues Band, Steve Gornall and the Blue Collar Blues Band, Bill Noteman and the Rockets, Detroit Disciples, (and others too unmentionable to enumerate). He is the producer of the Evolution of the Blues Concert Series at Santa Rosa Junior College, now in it's 13th successful year presenting a blues who's who - Otis Taylor, Elvin Bishop, Maria Muldaur, Roy Rogers, Norton Buffalo, Janiva Magness, Chris Cain, the Ford Brothers, and more. On Rude Notes Galore, 'the Doctor' is joined by the cream of the extra-rich northern California talent crop: Harmonica Aces - Norton Buffalo and Bill Noteman. Guitar Slingers - Ian Lamson (Elvin Bishop Band); Volker Strifler (Robben Ford and the Ford Blues Band); Dave Aguilar (Norton Buffalo & Friends); Michael Barclay, Sean Allen, and John Salz. Bass Monsters - Evan Palmerston (Elvin Bishop Band and Cold Blood); Mona Gnader (Sammy Hagar's Waboritas); and Fred Campbell (New Riders of the Purple Sage and Kingfish). Drummists and Percussioners - James Preston (Sons of Champlin); Paul Revelli (Angela Strehli Band); Kendrick Freeman (Allison Brown Band); and Mike Gutsch (the Aces). The 'Hot Air' Horns - Al Garth (Loggins & Messina and the Eagles); David Schrader (San Francisco Saxophone Quartet); Steve Long (Joe Louis Walker & the Boss Talkers); Rick Clifford (Pulsators); Roger Volz (the Dynatones); and Peter Welker (Cold Blood). and the gospel group SoulJoy! Eight of the CD's twelve tunes are Dr. Joel Rudinow originals, published by RudiNotes (BMI) and recorded here for the first time.
