Andre Bisson’s  cd Bad Scene is the exact opposite of what the title suggests.   This release should be titled Great Scene as it’s a terrific cd. It’s already been selected as Best Canadian Rhythm & Blues Album of 2013 by Blues Underground Network. Andre Bisson and his band, often referred to as the J Tones were formed in Hamilton and they’re all graduates of Mohawk College’s Applied Music Program.   They are Brad Cheeseman on bass, Matt Burns on drums, Francis Smith on sax, and Loretta Hale on trumpet. Andre and Loretta have made several successful European tours and the name Andre Bisson is quickly gaining international recognition. For Bad Scene they’re joined by guests Jesse O’Brien on keyboards (Hamilton Music Award winner for his playing on this cd) and Mohawk’s Darcy Hepner on tenor sax, as well as additional horn support from Andrew King and Kevin Matthews. Primarily a blues cd, BAD SCENE is not afraid to tread in different waters.   Funk, soul, rockin electric blues, and R&B are also in evidence.   Led by Bisson’s creativity, this is a cd that goes where it wants. The cd opens with the title track of Bad Scene and from the opening horn blast you know this cd is going to rock you. Bisson’s powerful, earthy voice is featured but is amply backed up by killer horns that drive this tune.
