Nathan Cavaleri's new album, only his fourth in a recording career that began in 1993, showcases his talents as a gifted guitarist, singer, songwriter, and arranger.A number of the songs have positive personal messages. Broken Lines, a vehicle for his imaginative, understated guitar playing, embraces the joys of touring. Miracles - with its rocking guitar and honking sax - subscribes to 'positive thinking', or as Nathan labels it, 'lens-widening'. The semi-acoustic, reassuring lullaby My Boys was created around Cavaleri's childrens' first day at school, while Cool Changes has elements of surf guitar.A haunting instrumental cover of the Billie Eilish hit When The Party's Over is an inspired choice, as is the most musically challenging track on the album Man On Fire, a nod to Fat Boy Slim which features a beat-poetry rap and growling didjeridoo played by Archibald Prize-winner Blak Douglas.
