Vocalist and harmonica player Rune Myhren started his musical career in 1990. Myhren is inspired by great harmonica players such as John Lee "Sonny Boy 1" Williamsson, Rice "Sonny Boy 2" Miller and George "Harmonica" Smith. With a mix of these styles, Myhren has over the past 14 years tried to find his own style.
Myhren has toured and shared the stage with great blues artists such as Bob Margolin, James Harman, Snooky Pryor, Mel Brown, Mark Hummel, RJ Mischo, Gary Primich, Billy Branch, Terry Hanck, as well as Junior Watson and his band. It was the friendship of some of these that in September 2003 made Myhren travel to San Francisco with his new project - "Myhren's DAM" - to record his new CD - "Sampled Minds".
When the name "Myhren's DAM" is chosen, this is partly because for many years this was the big stage for the closing day during the Notodden Blues Festival, as well as an expression of Myhren's association with artists such as: harmonica player RJ Mischo, guitarist Garth Webber, drummer June Core (Charlie Musselwhite Band) and bassist Kedar Roy (Junior Watson Band), guitarists Håkon Høye and Espen Liland, bassist and colleague in BluesNews - Rune Endal, as well as drummer Ulf Lauridsen, with whom Myhren has collaborated for a number of years. In addition, the new young harmonica talent - Eirik Bergene participates on this CD. The record title - "Sampled Minds" is not chosen randomly either, 6 of the songs on this CD were written and to a very large extent arranged and produced by Myhren. Songs like "Moonshine Whiskey" and "Victims Of Circumstance" were written based on real events from Myhren's life, while the song "Suicide Bomber" was written based on a highly current world view. The record has been distributed in Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France, Germany and the USA. Myhrens Dam consists per December 2004 by: Rune Myhren (vocals/harmonica) – Glenn H. Gran (guitar) – Loren Fagen (bass) – Ulf Lauridsen (drums).
