Here’s a guy that’s got the boogie blues in his blood. Guitarist Charles “CD” Davis brings his Strat right out front and gets the joint jumping with a collection of tunes that will get your blue suede shoes stepped on during the dance floor. With an airtight rotating rhythm section of Anthony Sapp-Keith Vivens/b, Tyson Sheth-Marvin Sparks/dr, Jean Paul Dalme/key and a hot tag team of vocalists, Davis gives you some fried chicken blues on his own “Help Me Baby” as well as shuffling and strutting on “When Mama Leaves Town.” Some snappy horns keep the ceiling low and the heat high, as Thomas Holtens trombone on the back room boogie “Old Fashioned Woman” or Dennis Dotson/s trumpet on the crisp “A Minor Thing” point out. Vocalist Roberta Donnay takes it back a few years on the sassy “That’s How I Learned…” while Jabo, the Prince of Zydeco keeps the light burning late into the evening with “Worried.” Davis himself shows some earthy acoustic work on the Delta back porch flavored  “Lonely Man Blues.” This guys got the chops as well as attitude. The good times are rolling here.
