Jared Sheets, former Parkersburg physician, was a member of the band for award-winning soul blues singer Johnny Rawls at the 19th annual Big Bend Blues & Brews Bash in Pomeroy, Ohio. Sheets, who is a physician in Athens, Ohio, was one of three members of the Mudfork Blues band performing with Rawls along the Ohio River in downtown Pomeroy. Guitarist Sheets was joined by his brother Adam and uncle John Lohse in performing with Rawls. Rawls has won several blues music awards during his more than 50-year singing/songwriting career. Rawls, a native of Mississippi, is a crowd favorite at music shows in Pomeroy, Meigs County. He was given the key to the city of Pomeroy and has performed for several years in the southeast Ohio community.Jared Sheets, a physician in Parkersburg from 2001 until 2005, has known Rawls for 15 years.
Members of the Mudfork Blues band, from Meigs County, are Jared Sheets, his son James, brother Adam, mother Jenny, daughter Cara, wife Laura and uncle John Lohse. Mudfork Blues band recorded the album “Drivin’ On Home” in 2004 at Sweetsong Productions in Wood County. The band followed this with the “River Cities Live” album, from performances in Parkersburg, Marietta and Pomeroy, in 2006.
