Its bluesy riff and rhythmic groove support a clear theme: the road, the tour. The duo describes the monotony of the passing asphalt, the nights, and the endless white lines along the roads, opening up to shared feelings such as boredom and intense joy.
This is the first of the stories of travel and encounters featured on their third studio album. On this album, Léa and Greg describe the behind-the-scenes of their lives, filled with conflicting emotions and improbable discoveries during their concerts.
These famous concerts continue, as the band is currently embarking on a massive tour across France, which began in February and continues through September.

A.J. Croce has built a distinctive career with a warm combination of contemporary blues and soulful roots rock threaded with various facets of pop. The son of the late folksinger Jim Croce, A.J. turned to music in the face of tragedy and made his own mark as a singer/songwriter. Debuting in the mid-'90s, he garnered critical acclaim during the next decade with albums like 2004's Adrian James Croce and 2006's Cantos. He later signed with the Compass label and issued a straight-up soul album in 2017's Just Like Medicine. In 2021, after enduring the sudden death of his wife, Croce found comfort in classic songs from his old covers repertoire and released an album of them called By Request. In 2025, he teamed up with producer Shooter Jennings to make the gritty and textured Heart of the Eternal.
Much of Croce's young life was marked by tragedy, beginning with his father's 1973 death in a plane crash before A.J. was even two years old. When he was four, he suffered a brain tumor that cost him his eyesight. He eventually recovered partial vision in one eye and found solace in learning to play the piano. Taking influence from the likes of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, as well as several early blues artists, Croce began gigging on the San Diego circuit and signed a record contract with Private Music at the age of 19. Two years later, he released his self-titled debut, which featured production from John Simon and T-Bone Burnett. That's Me in the Bar appeared in 1995, and Croce soon left the label to sign with Ruf Records, for whom he issued Fit to Serve in the spring of 1998. Although best known for his piano-based interpretation of American roots music, Croce switched gears in 2000 by hiring alternative rock producer Michael James (whose credits included albums by New Radicals, Hole, and Jane's Addiction) to helm his next record, Transit. Four years later, the singer's fifth album, the self-titled Adrian James Croce, explored an eclectic range of pop music influences, while 2006's excellent Cantos featured a decidedly stripped-down feel. Croce then returned to a rootsy sound with Cage of Muses. Croce signed with Compass Records for the release of 2014's Twelve Tales, an ambitious project that featured a dozen original songs recorded in six cities with six different producers, including Allen Toussaint, Jack Clement, and Mitchell Froom. Arriving in 2017, Just Like Medicine was a set influenced by vintage soul artists; legendary producer Dan Penn was behind the controls for the sessions, which included accompaniment from Vince Gill, Steve Cropper, and David Hood. The following year, Croce's life was again turned upside down when his wife died suddenly of a rare heart virus, leaving him a widower with two young children. Again healing himself with music, he revisited cover songs he loved to play by himself or at parties. Translating that intimate feel to record, he returned with the 2021 album By Request. This exploration of loss and love fed into Croce's next set of originals which returned him to his signature rootsy blend of styles. This time around, he hired Shooter Jennings to produce, resulting in 2025's vibrant Heart of the Eternal. ~ John Bush

The versatility of Steve Marriner is remarkable. Not only does he play a variety of instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, and harmonica), he also seems to enjoy having multiple projects on the go. The longtime member of MonkeyJunk has played with Colin James, Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar, Harry Manx, and numerous others. Now the JUNO winner and Maple Blues Award winner is preparing to release his latest solo album, Hear My Heart. The album was recorded at Marriner’s farm studio in Baltimore, Ontario, last October. “We camped out at the farmhouse where the studio is,” says Marriner, “and just focused on making the record. We had a lot of fun. It was not stressful at all. It’s nice to make music with great musicians.” He adds that using his own studio for recording gave the project some ease. “We weren’t watching the clock. When you have your own studio, it affords you the time to approach it with a more relaxed mindset.” Marriner also says that working on the album’s mixing was rewarding. “It gives each project an extra level of emotional investment, when you’re in the driver’s seat of how your stuff is going to sound.” One of the first singles to be released is a cover of a 1991 Genesis song, “I Can’t Dance.”
“I was at a Halloween party a couple of years ago, and it came on the stereo, and I somehow hadn’t heard it before. I was very young when that song came out, but even through the years, I had never really heard that song. What immediately caught me was Phil Collins’ vocal. It’s very bluesy. And the chorus has such a hook, with that high note on the word ‘I.’ It really grabs you. I heard it, and I could hear through that early 90s production that there was something to be mined from that. I’m really pleased with how it turned out, and it’s a fun song to play.”
A Western Canadian tour will support the new album’s release. A four-piece band will travel across Western Canada, with Ben Parker on guitar, Chris Brzezicki on bass, Peter Hendrickson on drums, and Marriner on vocals, guitar, and harp. The Edmonton stop will be a performance at CKUA’s Beresh Arts Den.
“I can’t wait to get there,” says Marriner.  I have heard great things about the performance space at CKUA, and I’m really looking forward to getting back to Alberta.”

Gina Coleman is the lead singer of the blues / roots band Misty Blues and one of the hardest workers in the business. Between Misty, her podcast /radio show "Queens Of The Blues" and now a fantastic solo album I honestly don't know when she has time to sleep and eat. This 11 song set of primarily acoustic based blues and roots music is sure to please fans of both the blues and americana genres. There is something here for anyone that digs the "real stuff". The first single is Days Gone By and after one listen it is clear why this was the choice. It's a straight time funky 3:20 masterpiece that is drenched in soul and maturity, reminding this writer a bit of J.J. Cales's writing that Clapton interpreted perfectly. Gina's voice is as unique as they come and equally strong. Her vocals are a bit more relaxed than a good deal of her work that seems to have been inspired by the likes of Koko Taylor. On this song she takes the less is more approach and it is fiercely effective. Will My Blues is everything that we have come to expect in a Gina Coleman production. Her writing chops are equalled by her choice in musicians. It's not that  the ensemble is good. If being good is what one has in the music business, they have nothing. Good is as common as weeds. What Gina and the group have is miles above good and 100% unique. Her music is simply in a class of its own and this song is a shining example of its exceptional nature.Another slickly performed track is Ain't No Giving Tree. Rhythmically speaking it is almost a rumba, but played just a bit straighter making it just plain fun and bouncy. It follows that classic 12 bar format that most blues does with a clever and unexpected turnaround. Primarily an acoustic piece with a tasteful guitar pass and fitting vocals, this one is a great example of how Gina and crew just hear the music with a different spin on it. It is unmistakably blues, but there is just a stank on it that is left of center and delightfully witty.The title track, Unequivocally Blue is a swingy blues number with changes that suggest a jazzer is somewhere in the mix. The walking bass line is executed perfectly against the drummer's brushes and colorful chords provided by both an electric and acoustic guitar. The vocal is breathy and emotive at each turn. There is a patience in Gina's delivery on this album that suggests how comfortable she is in her creative space these days. That patience is something that comes only with time and she has clearly put the time in.This record is noticeably more mellow than a good deal of the Misty Blues music we have come to know from Gina. I was quite surprised and equally hooked at first listen. With the bulk of the album being primarily acoustic based a different side of Gina's vocal ability has been exposed for all to bask in. It would be criminal to call it subdued, because that makes it sound like something it isn't. It has power and depth but a level of restraint that may not have landed as well if the band were 100% electric. The choices she made on this album could not have been better. Gina's first solo album certainly does not sound like a newbie to the game. It is a top flight production from start to finish that is drenched in cool class.

North Mississippi Allstars will return with Still Shakin’ on June 6, 2025 via New West Records. The 11-Track set was produced by Luther & Cody Dickinson and was primarily recorded at the Dickinson family studio, Zebra Ranch, in Independence, MS. It follows their acclaimed 2022 album Set Sail, which MOJO said captured “the lightning in a bottle groove that marks out all the best Southern Soul,” while No Depression said it was “their most soulful, funky creation to date.” 
To make their twelfth album, the North Mississippi Allstars went back to the beginning—namely, their 2000 debut, Shake Hands with Shorty. Luther Dickinson says, “Still Shakin’ is a celebration of our life-changing first album, which we released 25 years ago, and a love letter of appreciation to everyone who supported us and kept us in the game all these years. Touring this album cycle into 2026 will mark thirty years since we started North Mississippi Allstars, and we couldn’t resist by commemorating both of those anniversaries. Rather than focus on the old material, we decided to record new music in the spirit of our debut.” Still Shakin’ is a daringly inventive expansion of that album, showing how much the Dickinson Brothers have grown in the last 25 years. The point wasn’t to re-create the sound of Shake Hands with Shorty, but to recapture that spirit of invention and excitement. Back in the day, the Allstars came up with the phrase Modern Mississippi Music to describe their collision of styles and attitudes: an obsession with Mississippi Hill Country and Sacred Steel cross-bred with their stoner/punk/psychedelic jams. Still Shakin’ embodies that idea with every note and incorporates wild explorations, weird experiments, odd obsessions, and unexpected influences into their sound. 
Today, the band shared the video for the album’s title track, which was shot partially at Willie Mitchell’s legendary Royal Studios, and also features footage supplied by North Mississippi Allstars fans as well. Of the song, Luther Dickinson said “”Still Shakin'” grew from a studio improv jam and I knew I wanted to write a song for the title track, expressing our gratitude to anyone that has supported us over these 25 years. Stringing hill country inside jokes together, the lyrics kept coming to me and I laid them down on the road using my kid’s karaoke mic.”

‘Just Stay High’ emerged during the pandemic as a series of Zoom writing sessions among Alexis P. Suter, her long-time friends and collaborators Vicki Bell and Ray Grappone, and album co-producer Byron Isaacs (The Lumineers). A remote collaboration not unlike others yielding albums born during that time, as this unique project progressed, it took a powerful turn. Suter, Bell and Grappone reunited with original band mates, The Bennett Brothers (Jimmy Bennett and Peter Bennett), rekindling a brilliant, inextinguishable musical fire.
Suter explains, “Our writing journey began during the pandemic, at a time when we knew we needed to stay on the path of conscious creativity, spending many days collaborating and brainstorming to make our dream come to life. ‘Just Stay High’ is exactly what we did, and now through our gifts of music bring a message of consciousness for the world to heal.”
“All of the stories both lyrically and musically are about life; changes to cope with, some that we can’t change, things learned, observed and pondered when we had to slow down during the pandemic,” reflects vocalist Vicki Bell. “It all boils down to what really matters in life; ‘Love Always Wins.’”

Joanne Shaw Taylor’s 10th studio album Black and Gold, releases on the 6th of June, and blues rock fans are in for a real treat this summer. The album features an excellent lineup of backing musicians: Anton Fig on drums, Alison Prestwood on bass, Jimmy Wallace on keys, Doug Lancio and Audley Freed on guitar, Joe Bonamassa guests on “All the Things I Said” and “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now?”, and Savannah Hadigan and Sheridan Gates on backup vocals. It’s a stellar lineup that puts together a very respectable album, continuing the excellent track record of releases for our genre in the first half of 2025.
Black and Gold features 11 tracks that can best be described as eclectic, in a great way. The album features a heavy focus on blending the trappings of blues rock with indie, 80s pop, and Americana. The album’s first third is the least powerful, with “Hold of My Heart,” “All The Things I Said,” and the title track “Black & Gold” being interesting tracks with country, pop, and soul influences (in that order) but they don’t quite reach the heights of the later parts of the record. “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now” stands out in particular, almost sounding like a Kate Bush track with the synths. 
The last half of the album is an absolute knockout, tracks five through 11 are all stellar. It’s no coincidence that most of the rock-heavy side of the album is the side with the most impact and dynamic themes. The other genre influences make the record interesting and innovative, but Taylor is really at her best here when she’s rocking out on tracks like “Hell of a Good Time” and “Look What I’ve Become.” While the title track is good and the recent single “Grayer Shade Of Blue” is an interesting pop-infused tune, the real stars of the album are the two closing numbers, “What Are You Gonna Do Now” and “Love Lives Here.” 
“What Are You Gonna Do Now” is the the most fun and moving track on the record for my money, while the closer “Love Lives Here” is the best example on the record of blending different genres with blues rock, using lots of keys work and sound landscapes reminiscent of gospel including an uplifting call and response in the chorus.
Black and Gold might take a couple tracks to really get into its groove, but once it gets going, it’s really firing on all cylinders, showcasing some of the best of Taylor’s playing, writing, and style. Listening to Black and Gold, it’s easy to see why she’s among the leading musicians in the genre today. This is a very strong entry in Taylor’s discography, and all of her best qualities as a musician are on display here, perfectly accompanied by a fantastic band and guests.

About the Artist
= The Monday Blues Revue has been performing together in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since 1997 when the original lineup of drummer Chris Monday, guitarist Tony Watson, and vocalist and bassist Jay Miranda reunited when Tony returned to Pittsburgh fourteen years after the three had first worked together. Mark Baratz added his blues harmonica soon after the first few rehearsals. Most recently, Jack Brown has filled out the sound on keyboards.
Featuring Miranda, a multidimensional musician with a voice to match, The Monday Blues Revue spreads the gospel of blues learned by Watson from guys like Son Seals, Eddy Clearwater, and Melvin Taylor during his nine years in Chicago. These lessons added to his extensive classic rock, art rock, and jazz repertoire. Monday’s live rock and jazz experience provides the rhythmic strength that is the foundation of the blues. Baratz adds spice with soulful harmonica riffs inspired by Chicago blues greats Sonny Boy Williamson, Sugar Blue, and Junior Wells. Experience as a sideman in a band featuring the Tower of Power horn section nurtured his love of the blues. Larry Kurtz grew up singing in the church. He started playing harmonica at the age of 15 after hearing Little Walter on the radio. He is a solo artist with his band THE LAWBREAKERS and co-front man in the award-winning band Trouble & Strife. They were voted Favourite Blues Band in the Canadian Independent Music Awards and nominated New Artist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards. Larry is the founder & Artistic Director of The Orangeville Blues Festival. In 2016 he was named Blues Booster of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards in Toronto.Larry has play hundreds of shows, events and festivals including The Southside Shuffle, Tremblant International Blues Festival, Kitchener Blues Festival, Beaches International Jazz Festival, Canal Bank Shuffle, Limestone City Blues Festival, Lighthouse Blues Festival, Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, Collingwood Jazz Festival, Blues at Blue Mountain, Music By The Bay Live, and Orangeville Rib Fest.

“Blue Room's (Canada) second CD ,“Great To Be Alive” is a real pleasure to listen to over and over again. From the first track " Red Beans and Rice", to the final track" Southbound Road", the excitement and enjoyment never lets up. The rockin’ skins were once again played by Pat Quinn. "Get Outta The House" is a rockin’ upbeat blues rocker with awesome, melodic bass lines by Fraser Lawrason.“Who’s On The Telephone”  is a moody, atmospheric tune, featuring beautiful, jazzy guitar hooks by Paul, complementing the raw meaningful lyrics by Brian.“Spare Change" is a very moody and atmospheric jazzy blues which has some really intelligent and thought-provoking lyrics… "Wake Up Cryin’” has some really rockin’ boogie in the John Lee Hooker style with awesome guitar and bass backbeat, complementing Brian's rockin’ bluesy vocals. This tune should fill any dance floor with wild, shaking bodies ready to rock the house to the ground.

All in all, Blue Room the group and the CD is a good buy and a good time for anyone who appreciates good blues done right by those who know how! “
