ACME Blues Company is a high-energy electric blues band from the Washington DC area. Their mix of traditional and contemporary blues music has an original sound that always fills the dance floor. This band has gained a reputation for delivering highly charged and memorable performances all around Virginia, Maryland and DC.
12 tracks, 42 minutes - excellent. If you prefer your blues to take more of a modern route the Acme Blues Company could easily be right up your alley. This all-original effort doesn't stray too far from the tried-and-true blues path but Waverly Milor, a potent frontman and tough harmonica player, and his partners in crime, play with a touch more than a hint of rock, and they do it effectively. Guest Mike Westcott's slide work for the groove-changing Easy Money tips toward Duane Allman in both approach and tone while Milor's vocals on the greasy title cut swagger with authority. As a rhythm section, Steve Crescenze on bass and Chris Ruckman on drums, shift gears effortlessly on shuffles (Hey Baby), tough rockers (Except My Own), and slow grinders (Liquor Store), while a few guests drop in for additional assistance here and there. It's not straight-ahead or old school, and it's not your typical bar-band blues-rock - the Acme Blues Company offers up 'industrial strength blues music' and they do it well.

Blues band from the west coast of Sweden, formed in 1998 by Paul Alfredsson, with the aim of playing a pure Chicago Blues style. The members of the band are: -Paul Alfredsson on vocals and harmonica, -Ari Hautala on guitar. -Magnus Lanshammar on upright bass and fender bass. Before Magnus joined Paul & The Blue Delivery he used to be a member of The Instigators. -Jim Ingvarsson on drums. This debut of 13 rousing blues, roots & soul pieces featuring 9 originals & some reinterpreted covers is the first for seasoned drummer/vocalist & Michigan-born John Christopher Morgan. On board are a few name artists, including guitarist Albert Lee. Now residing in Ventura, CA, John’s beautifully designed 6-panel CD Right On Time was produced by Ralph Carter (bass).
Ok – John isn’t Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, or George Jones—big deal. On first listen, I was grabbed by his distinctive voice. A good showcase style with wonderful female backing vocals. An engaging set. “Vidalia,” & the sizzling harmonica radiation of the Huey Lewis tune “Bad Is Bad” are masterful. Excellent playing. John Christopher Morgan has style. Many singers have good voices, but style, ah, but that’s another thing.
Surprisingly, the percussive & sumptuous guitar coherence of the rhumba flavored “Trouble Is My Business,” finds John with a great J.J. Cale fusion. It has heat & he distinguishes the groove with the atmosphere. Yeah, style & atmosphere – there’s the magic. Then he does a complete turnaround with the quirky horn dustiness of “Last Heartbreak” & “Right On Time” both have a soulful configuration right out of Southside Johnny/J. Geils Band/Beaver Brown in tradition. Impressive.
These songs were arranged with care. Track 4 has a dark Henry Mancini dynamic that spills from “San Buenaventura.” The lead vocal is a sultry female with a ‘60s twangy lead guitar & succulent sax. Then, strictly soul seeps into the ‘70s Barry White-type “Ain’t We All In It Together.” I’m convinced Morgan is good at pacing his work throughout this album. This is a narrative & it’s laid out with good drama & words of inspiration. Not necessarily Motown, but more of a Philly-soul tint. Female vocals are impeccable.
A true blues injection returns with bluster on the harmonica-driven Fabulous Thunderbirds style “Black Bag Blues.” Not exactly Kim Wilson’s voice, but Morgan has grit & the tune glides effortlessly through the speakers in a cool & calculated juke joint/roadhouse blues embrace. This is not a beer song; this is straight whiskey. The hottest 12-bar blues lead guitar comes on the silly novelty tune “The Jeweler’s Daughter.” It features urban-cool horns & it’s well done. The swinging instrumental “Jumpin’ With Leon” is a strong, danceable jewel mindful of Memphis Slim. The finale comes with a bit of a John Lee Hooker tone in the narrative “Black Bottom Blues.” You can’t do better.

13 tracks of hot blues rock here from Ray Ybarra and his supporting cast. Ray plays the guitar and he plays it very well. There is a long list of support artists but the core band is Doc Bradford on bass and Kevin Gaissert on drums with harp work from Roy Mannnino and others. Several singers handle the vocals. 12 of these tracks were written or co written by Ray Ybarra and only one track is a cover. I like the guitar style - the tone, the tempo, the feeling. Very good stuff here from this Texas guitar slinger. Strongly recommended/
Little Ray is versatile,demonstrating as much affection for the funky Texas format as for the nastier Chicago stuff. He gets some great tones out of his guitars. Roadhouse blues for a roadhouse band. 
South Texas chop-top blues blast down the track. Little Ray really rocks out in a '50's blues style that's semi-rockabilly with lots of roadhouse mud/

The Stacks Edward Band was formed in 2001 in Milwaukee WI. Original members of the 50 Mission Blues Band started the band to create the best high energy blues around. In may of 2003 Jim korn joined forces with the S.E.B and polished of the sound with his fluent bass skills, and in april of 2004 Chris Lehnert came aboard and added that unmistakable Hammond sound. The S.E.B are known for they live performances and build a bigger following every show. The Stacks Edward Band recently opened for Tinsley Ellis, who said, These guys have soul and that they were The best opening band they've had in years. This great rockin' live album was recorded at the local blues club, Six Points Pub in West Allis, Milwaukee. It's a very good rootsblues rock album, and the band deserve a bigger audience. This four-piece group from Milwaukee Wisconsin has been performing for audiences in Wisconsin for over four years. The list of venues played over the years includes G-Daddys BBC and Shank Hall in Milwaukee, Nighthawks in LaCrosse, Luthers Blues in Madison, TruBlu in Fond Du Lac and The Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis. The Stacks Edward Band has also played numerous outdoor shows, including the East Side Biker Block Party for the 100th anniversary of Harley Davidson, the Summer Solstice music festival and Summerfest, one of the largest music festivals in the world. At Summerfest, the Stacks Edward Band was chosen to represent the best of Milwaukees blues musicians as the house band during the Battle of the Jammers Competition, a showcase that Stacks Edward won as a vocalist and guitarist the previous year. In 2004, the Stacks Edward Band performed live on WMSE for WMSEs fall pledge drive. The Stacks Edward Band has opened for a number of national acts, including Popa Chubby, The Groove Hogs and Tinsley Ellis. Stacks has also opened for and sat in with Howard and The White Boys, Magic Red and The Voodoo Tribe, and also sat in with Kenny Neal. Frame by Frame, the latest studio release by the Stacks Edward Band, has been sold as far away as Japan, Italy and the United Kingdom. Diamond Joe Siddons is a fine rockish blues guitarist with a limited but effective voice. A professional musician since 1971 who is based in Texas, Siddons mostly writes his own material and is a no-nonsense bluesman. He utilizes a conventional two-guitar organ quintet with occasional contributions for a three-piece horn section throughout his spirited set. Most unusual among the lyrics are "I Threw the Dice," which has to do with taking a chance on love, while his cover of "Just Your Fool" is properly intense and powerful. Diamond Joe Siddons is virtually the entire show and he is heard throughout in prime form.
