Since the inception of the Cadillac Jack Revue in 1994 we have been in and out of ther public eye several times. We are now returning to the scene with our first CD “The Beat Goes On” including with 3 tracks featuring blues Diva, Janiva Magness and her road band (Dave Kidda –drums Rick Reed –Bass Red Young- organ George Friend- Guitar).
The Beat Goes on: The opening tune “Cadillac Shuffle” has been played at every gig we play for the last 20 years. With the exception of the 2 Percy Mayfield tunes, Baby Please and Strange Things (both feature Janiva singing) all the songs are originals written by myself and a co-writer.
Even “The Beat Goes On” was re-written by myself and a co-writer, and had to be approved by the Bono family before it could released . Yes, They liked it! A lot!
Truck Drivin' Man was written as I was driving from Florida to L.A. on a 36 hour no sleep cross country marathon.
Texas was written in a cheap motel in El Paso watching Pimps doing their work, for the working girls. True story.
Down at the New Orleans was written for Gaye and Jimmy of the New Orleans Creole Restaurant ( she gave us our first gig in 1994 and was also my first gig for my very first band in Seattle-“the Diamond Jack Blues Band” which featured Henry Cooper on slide guitar and vocals in 1992. Guitar Man was written in Honor of Albert Collins who I have always felt was the best of all the blues guitarists. The Stomp was written as an instrumental tribute to Freddie King.
It’s safe to say we are a blues based band, but we represent almost all forms of American music. I was weaned on the Blues, watching acts like Muddy Waters , Albert King and John Lee Hooker play at the Ash Grove in Los Angeles, in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. I am no stranger to 12 bar blues. After studying music at the Dick Grove Music School, I wanted to add the blues to other forms of Americana music . The CD you have before you, is that.
“The Beat Goes On” by the Cadillac Jack Revue is a melting pot of the blue’s influence on American music. A meld of Americana.
We hope you enjoy.
Thank You

The Beat Goes On
