Igor Prado gained interest in the guitar at age 11 and immediately fell in love with the language of the blues. 16 years playing in bars and festivals with a few restrictions because of his young age, Igor developed a slightly different style of play. This self-taught lefty turned a right-handed guitar upside down and plays with the strings reversed.
Deepened in the language of traditional Blues and West Coast Swing, a style that mixes the Blues with elements of Swing & Jazz of the forties and fifties. The Igor Prado Band formed his band with his brother Yuri Prado on drums, Rodrigo Mantovani on electric/acoustic bass and Denilson Martins on Baritone Saxophone. Igor Prado has toured with several renowned American artists like Steve Guyger, RJ Mischo, Mark Hummel, Rick Estrin (Little Charlie & Nightcats), Lynwood Slim, JJ Jackson, James Wheeler, Phil Guy (brother of the legendary Buddy Guy) Mud Morganfield (son of the legendary Muddy Waters), Bob Stroger (bassist of Muddy Waters), Omar Coleman, Curtis Salgado, Sugaray Rayford, Tia Carroll, Junior Watson, Sax Gordon and many others…Also a musician and producer, Igor Prado has already produced some albums (Flávio Guimarães, Prado Blues Band, Robson Fernandes & Donny Nichilo) launched in Brazil by the independent label “Chico Blues Records” and partner label in the U.S. “Pacific Blues” with producer Jerry Hall who worked with legendary Motown Records artists such as Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & Stevie Wonder.
In 2007 Igor achieved an unprecedented feat for a Brazilian artist, and was nominated by the Canadian magazine “Real Blues” and the British “Blues Matters” as the only South American on the list of best albums of 2007 along with several renowned artists from the American scene.
In 2009/10 participated in one of the biggest festivals in the U.S., The Doheny Blues Festival alongside artists like The Black Crows, Crosby, Still & Nash, Kim Wilson, Robert Cray, Taj Mahal among others.
In 2010 in partnership with the singer and harmonica player Californian Lynwood Slim, Igor Prado signed with the larger U.S. West Coast Blues label, Delta Groove, with the album titled “Brazilian Kicks”.
In December 2010 they become the only South American band ever to appear on the TOP 10 (the most played albums in the USA – Living Blues Chart) at # 2 along with artists like Buddy Guy (# 1), Junior Wells, Robert Cray among others.
In 2012 Igor Prado launched the ambitious “Blues & Soul Sessions” (CD & DVD) which featured artists such as Curtis Salgado, Tia Carroll, JJ Jackson, Sax Gordon, Greg Wilson, Donny Nichilo among others in a real tribute to the Blues & Soul of Music of the 60′s & 70′s.
All recorded live on analog tapes; the album had a big impact on critics despite only having been released in South America. This powerful CD was voted album of the year by the American website “Blues Junction” and was nominated in the “Bravo Section” by Blues Revue Magazine (USA) alongside Ben Harper, Charlie Musselwhite & Gary Clark Jr.
