The Terraplanes is a band from Los Angeles that plays authentic blues from the Chess Records era. Think Little Walter, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddley and of course, Muddy Waters. But that just scratches the surface, in terms of Terraplanes blues can be done from East Coast to West Coast, and from New Orleans to Chicago, but all in all something that you can't quite describe if you don't know what you heard. blues done well Slide guitarist and harmonica player Henry Cooper also comes from the Northwest of the US. He played with the Terraplanes and Screaming Jay Hawkins. His style and presentation can best be described as cool. Whether it concerns Elmore James or Slim Harpo songs, Cooper honors the original but always makes a special interpretation of it. Boyd Small was best known as a local hero in Portland for eleven years as the singer/drummer of the Terraplanes. He was behind the drum kit with Pinetop Perkins and Jimmy Rogers, among others.Class Album!
