Big Gilson is een Braziliaanse bluesrock gitarist uit Rio de Janeiro, die in eigen land mateloos populair is en die al veertien albums heeft afgeleverd. Throughout his career, he has performed in Brazil, the United States, Argentina, and Europe, having shared the stage with Steve Winwood, Johnny Rivers, Magic Slim, Saffire, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and B.B. King, among others.
He is the founder of the blues band Big Allanbik, with which he released the albums “Black Coffee,” “Blues Special Reserve,” “Batuque y blues,” and “Destilado ao vivo.”
He recorded on albums by Elétrika Tribo, Hanói Hanói (“Credus”), Celso Blues Boy (“Indiana Blues” and “Nuvens negras choram”), Macabu (“Izirráider de Bicicleta”), Suburblues, Victor Biglione (“In Blues Rock”), Alan Ghreen, Ismael de Carvalho, Charles Máster, Daniel Azulay and Jefferson Gonçalves (“Dreia”).
Regarding the musician, B.B. King commented: “When I see a young man playing the blues so well and so far from America, I feel that my mission in this life is fulfilled.”
