Born in Chicago, keyboard player and singer Sam Joyner is a true entertainer with a remarkable sense of humor, together with an impressive stage presence and interesting lyrics, that make him an outstanding storyteller. He was son of Reverend Joyner, a preacher from a local church in Tunica in the heart of Mississippi, who later moved to Chicago. Reverend Joyner wanted his son knew the life conditions of black people in the south and, every summer, he took him to a farm, to have a first-hand experience of his relatives lives who were still living in Tunica and Turkey Scratch. For a city boy, those experiences deeply marked his life and his music.Sam Joyner is currently fully immersed in developing his career and he is managing to get a place in the competitive black music market. Sam has an impressive voice and a style framed in Chicago blues, but also in the rhythms of New Orleans, Mississippi rural blues and even in jazz, rhythm & blues and reggae. This recording gathers twelve songs where you will discover his versatility, thanks to a varied repertoire, which makes it to be easily appreciated by a wide range of black music lovers, who will also smile with the lyrics of each of his songs that are devoted to topics like drug abuse, one-side relationships, Saturday night parties at juke joints, compatible relationships or even present a tribute to Robert Cray and a version of “Hoochie Coochie Man” where Sam experiments with piano and electric drums.A group of excellent and professional musicians contribute to give a good dose of quality to the recording.
