112 North Duck: High energy American blues in the tradition of the classic guitar driven blues bands, often compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Winter for guitar and The Doors for vocals. The group features an oustanding lead singer and an incredible guitar player supported by a solid rhythm section. Performing since 2004, the band is hardworking, always professional and extremely entertaining. In July 2007, the band released their second CD "I Took the Hook" also with 13 songs; 11 by the band, one by Loren C. Winkler from Blue House, and one by Taj Mahal and Yank Russell. Real Blues Magazine in Victoria, B.C. Canada put "I Took the Hook" at 14 on their chart of the top blues CDs released in 2007.

Starting from the adage that it is never too late to do well and knowing, moreover, that it is almost impossible for us to list all the discographic production that daily waters our editorial staff, it is only today Today we have the opportunity to talk to you about the fourth album of this English duo, a master of high quality stage performances. It's particularly invigorating country-blues, but not only...! It sometimes makes you think of crazy pub-rock, like Dr Feelgood. Which is hardly surprising since we find in the line-up of the following albums of this good doctor, 'Mad Man Blues' (1985), 'Brilleaux' (1986) and 'Classic' (1987), the so-called Gordon Russel on guitar and who accompanied Lee Brilleaux, P.H. Mitchell and Kevin Morris at the time. But I seem to remember that this is a story that Gordon does not want to talk about too much…
Whether acoustic or electric, the music of the Two Timers has a freshness and spontaneity that is good to find on our road paved with CDs. That something that makes them irreplaceable and essential.
The duo of musicians from Brighton offers us eleven compositions of the best quality on this disc released in 2003 but of which the media have spoken too little or not at all. Wrongly. While Sarah James and Gordon Russel deserve as much media presence as the Lucky Petersons and Joe Louis Walkers.
Contrary to the heavy mechanics that align albums and tours in an industrial way, these two offer an almost 'artisanal' music. And it was pure chance that gave me the opportunity to see them on stage for the first time. It was in the last century, in my little town in Val d'Oise. A memorable evening of a weekend in July when a deluge of water seemed to announce the end of the world close to us. A few hallucinated huddled under rare umbrellas, however, remained at the foot of the stage, as if petrified by the phenomenal energy that emanated from this live duo: Sarah James on vocals, percussion and harmonica and Gordon Russel on guitars, the mandolin and the suitcase-sound box.
These two craftsmen of popular and festive music share their love of music through this album and we would almost be sorry to have passed them over in silence for so long. This is also why we are so happy to find them. Like those old friends that we no longer really thought of and that we find by chance on a trip.
And then a friendly advice: if their name appears on the poster of a room or in the program of a festival, move to go live 'live' what you will already love to listen to on CD. It's worth the effort and you really won't be disappointed.

The real challenge in presenting Kill 'Em All in this fashion is that perhaps not every track off the groundbreaking thrash record naturally lends itself to the bluesy southern rock ZZ Top made their name on. Pauna swaps galloping chugs for swinging grooves and what's most consistent and winds up unifying this all is his vocal grit, which is a fair impersonation of Top's Billy Gibbons and the late Dusty Hill. Of course, James Hetfield's own gritty vocal character is not far removed from ZZ Top, so that helps too.

Zach has had many articles written about him in the paper along with making all-state and all-county jazz ensembles. Zach has had the chance to meet greats, such as B.B. King, Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Tommy Emmanuel, and David Cook. He recently played at Ground Zero Blues club in Clarksdale, MI, with the great Terry "Big T" Williams and Josh "Razorblade" Williams. Soon after, Zach had the chance to play with Walter Trout in Dayton Ohio at Gillys Jazz Club.

The original Zooloo Blues Band was formed in Abitibi, Quebec in 1999. After a while of gigging in Abitibi, Zooloo grew tired of the small, local music scene. Determined to make a name for herself she decided to relocate to Gatineau, Quebec.In 2001, she found new musicians, who loved to play as much as she did and started all over again with a new show and a new energy. With her new band in tow, The Zooloo Blues Band began performing more often and further away from home.
In 2005, The Band released their 1st CD entitled En Blues Foncé, The band took the show on the road and started to create a buzz.
In 2008, The Band released their 2st CD entitled Let's Get Hot!
They took 2nd place at the 2005 half-final EMERGENZA Contest in Montreal. They performed for huge crowds at the international Hot air Balloons festival in Gatineau, a 3 night stint of shows at the Maximum Blues Festival, in Carleton as well as performances at the The Grange Marcoux in Beauport Quebec, the Plaza Theatre and the Kola Note, in Montréal.

The guitarist Víctor Aneiros (Ferrol, 1960), with a long career and eight released albums, now joins the former singer of the Big Bottom Band, Paula Martins, to create the Martins Aneiros Band. Together with drummer Marcos Sánchez and bassist Víctor Gacio, this emerging line-up offers a repertoire that combines the guitarist's own themes, which we can now hear with a renewed air in Martins' voice, as well as blues, rock and soul classics. Aneiros' career has led him to tour the stages of a multitude of festivals both inside and outside of Spain, among which highlights such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the San Javier Jazz Festival, the Cerdanyola Blues Festival or the Blues Festival of Getxo In the summer of 2019, Paula Martins participated as a guest in the concerts that Víctor Aneiros offered at the Fisterra Blues Experience and Discalzos polo Festival festivals. It was there that the germ of what ended up becoming Martins Aneiros Band emerged.

Brian Brickeen began his musical career on the drum set, playing throughout the midwest with a variety of bands from rock and country to gospel to blues and jazz. His first exposure to Stevie Ray Vaughn awakened a passion for electric blues guitar, an instrument he then pursued in every spare moment. From SRV he then began studying and absorbing the work of other great blues artists such as Albert King, BB King, Son Seals, and Robben Ford as well as cross over artists such as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. In 1996 he joined with Lawrence Wright in Kansas City, a former band member of Albert Collins and a midwest regional artist reknowned for his mastery of blues organ and piano. Brian received his true baptism into the blues over the subsequent years as he studied songwriting and musical expression under Lawrence's tutelage. With Lawrence's death in 2003, Brian carries on the tradition of the master with his debut CD release, now available in the summer of 2004. Mixing old and new, this work combines the traditional Austin rock/blues feel with a Kansas City swing to create a unique, driving sound with a taste of the contemporary. Showcasing both his drumming and guitar styles, this work contains 9 original tracks.

Peter Garstenauer was born in Austria on February 8, 1965. He began playing the guitar at the age of 14. One year later, he founded his first band with two schoolmates, The Rhythm Gangsters. The boys from Upper-Austria started playing the blues, and musical styles related to the blues. Since this kind of music was not part of their country's musical traditions, the young band encountered many obstacles, some in form of well intentioned advice from commercially oriented musicians. Often, they were not taken seriously, or envied for their talent. Peter Garstenauer, however, continued steadfastly to pursue his interest, and proved to be a very passionate guitarist.He was mainly influenced by Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Playing the blues was no longer just a pastime for Peter, it became an antidote to everyday problems, a means to bring order to the chaos within and to freely express his feelings.

Scotty Meyer is a native of Waupun, Wisconsin. He began his guitar career in 1992 playing bass for two years then switching to electric guitar. His early influences were Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Joe Bonamassa. He started his own Scotty Meyer Band in 1998 originally just blues then it evolved into classic rock, pop, and country. Upon moving to the Fox Valley he began playing with Sonic Circus as lead guitarist in 2006 and after several nominations Sonic won cover band of the year in 2009 by the WAMI Organization.
Scotty was also a member of Geoff Landon and the Wolfpack, 2008 and 2009 WAMI country band of the year. In 2009 Scotty also began his career with the polka band The Happy Schnapp's Combo as lead guitarist SGT. Roxzoff. The Happy Schnapp's is well known for their national hit songs, Fleet Farm and Da Bear's Still Suck. He has been nominated by the WAMI's for guitarist of the year in 2008, 2009, and 2011. With my slogan being "The Blues Is My Passion & Therapy" I just had to get my hands on a dose of THE BLUES PRESCRIPTION. A couple of listens to this was just what the doctor ordered. On "SOUR MASH", the pharmacists are: RICH "THE FLAVOR" COHEN, the bands leader, guitarist, vocalist and writer; JASON RICCI on harp; GEORGE PAPA GEORGE on organ, BARRY HARRISON and ROD GROSS on drums; ADMIR "DR. BLUES" HADZIC on bass; BRIAN CHARETTE on piano.
The title track, "SOUR MASH", is one of six originals by RICH. It's a funky jam that's appropriately played in the key of "WHIS"....that's right, the whole song is sung in "WHIS-KEY". Hey, I'll drink to that. Along with RICH's interesting vocals, GEORGE, ADMIR and BARRY highlight this harpless track."2:19" is a seven minute track and anyone who knows JASON "WICKED" RICCI, as he was affectionately referred to in his early Ft. Lauderdale days, knows this means lots of hot harp solos. Once again, RICH's vocals are superb."BOUNCE & BURN", another original, could not have been more appropriately titled. This smoker will cause you to bounce uncontrollably and when it's done, your hands will surely burn from clapping along. This one's all about the guitar and the drums. It's a fierce instrumental in which RICH and ROD battle it out.........and they both win. It's no wonder this track only lasted about three minutes. Any longer and the rush could have been dangerous.
"SHAME ON YOU" could very well be the G-Spot on "SOUR MASH". It's one of those incredible musical moments, that some CD's are fortunate to have, where all the musicians are peaking simultaneously. I lost track of the number of times I replayed it. Hmmmmm, I may have spoken to soon. Either that or these cats are having multiple peaking sessions."Rx BLUES" takes up right where "SHAME ON YOU" left off. With JASON sitting out this instrumental, the rhythm section absolutely goes wild on this one. Some of the best organ on the disc, and for that matter on any disc, can be heard right here on this track. GEORGE PAPA GEORGE is an absolute genius.Closing out the disc is nearly a ten minute track, recorded live at TRUMPET'S in Montclair, NJ. It's called "SHAKE YOUR HIPS" and I promise you they'll be shakin'. As expected, with this amount of time and in front of a live audience, JASON will be JASON.
