From Collins, Colorado comes The Grocery Story, an eight-piece band founded by the legendary John Magnie and Steve Amedee, who have embarked on this new adventure with some of the most renowned musicians on the Colorado scene. Together they develop a new sonic experience, skillfully blending blues, rock, gospel, zydeco, and rhythm & blues into a fantastic mix that also includes New Orleans rhythms. All of this is infused with a healthy dose of groove, which, combined with their musical expertise, makes this album a true sonic celebration brimming with joy and a connection with the listener. In addition to an excellent performance, the album showcases impressive vocal range, featuring six outstanding vocalists. Four are members of The Grocery Story, while the other two are special guests who take turns singing on the album's nine tracks, seven of which are original compositions, plus two excellent covers: "You Don't Knock," popularized by The Staples Singers, and "Big River" by Johnny Cash. The Grocery Story have been compared to Southern Avenue for their ability to tackle a variety of styles. Their authenticity and stage presence make them a unique and original group, surprising audiences with their versatility and wide range of resources. They are a band capable of performing everything from the most festive rock & roll and other danceable rhythms on a Saturday night to the most passionate gospel music sung on Sunday mornings in the local church in Collins.
